Have you been looking for the perfect element of texture to add to your cozy corner? Then I recommend crocheting this throw pillow. I think you’ll be surprised at how simple this actually is.
This pillow measures 18×18, so if you don’t want to fill it with fiber fill inside a pillow case (like I did), then you can purchase an 18×18 pillow insert instead. One more option, that a lot of people do, is just crochet the front panel and then sew that on to a pillow insert. So you definitely have options with this pattern. I went back and fourth about adding tassels to each corner but ultimately decided not to.
Comment below if you think I should add tassels.
Textured Throw Pillow
Supplies
3 skeins of Lion Brand Yarn in color Houston Cream (super bulky 6). I used about 2 ¼ of the skeins
Crochet hook 10mm (US/size N)
Yarn needle
Fiber fill and standard pillowcase or 18×18 pillow insert
Abbreviations
Ch- chain
Sc- single crochet
Hdc- half double crochet
Bobble st- bobble stitch- to create this bobble st, yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull up a second loop, repeat in same stitch until you have 5 loops on hook. Insert hook in st and pull yarn through all 5 loops on hook.
Front Panel
Ch 39
Row 1: Sc in first 2 chains, bobble st in next ch. *[Sc in next 2 ch, bobble in next ch] across. Row should have 12 bobble st in total
Row 2: Ch 1, Sc in each st from previous row (38 across)
Row 3: Ch 1 *[Sc in next 2 sts, bobble st in next st] across
Row 4-34 repeat rows 2 and 3
Border: sc around the entire panel, 2x. (Note: for corners, sc, ch, sc in same st)
Back Panel
Ch 39
Row 1: hdc in second chain from hook and each ch across (38 total)
Row 2: ch 1, hdc in each st across (38)
Row 3 -28: repeat row 2
Border: sc around the entire panel, 2x. (Note: for corners, sc, ch, sc in same st) use yarn needle to sew to front panel.
Note: I sewed the panels together by placing the front sides together facing in (bobble side facing in). After sewing 3 sides together, flip it to right side out.
Stuff before sewing the fourth side
To stuff:
Insert empty pillowcase in the pillow, stuff with fiber fill, roll, or sew pillowcase shut (I used an off-white-colored pillowcase to blend in with the yarn). You can use a 18×18 pillow insert instead
Sew together fourth side. Weave in ends.
Pillow measures 18×18
