Blob Crochet Pattern

It all started when my son asked me to crochet this picture that he drew (below). I told him I would try my best but I’m not promising it’ll look just like this. When I showed him the finished product, he let me know that it was exactly what he wanted! The next day he took it to school to show his friends, when he got home he said could you make six more for my friends so we can all play together at recess? Since I have free time on my hands right now I said of course! Fast forward I ended up making about 15 of these guys in all sorts of colors, stripes, some without crowns, some with swords, carrots, capes. It’s been so fun. Since they didn’t really have a shape we just named them ‘Blob’. Below is the pattern for you to create your very own Blob too!

This Blob crochet pattern is the perfect pattern for anyone just starting amigurumi.

Pattern

Supplies:

• Yarn (any color)
• 3.5 mm hook
• 10 mm safety eyes
• Fiber fill
• Yarn needle

Abbreviations:

• MR- Magic Ring
• Sc- single crochet
• Slp st- slip stitch
• Inc- increase

Body

Row 1: MR (6)

Row 2: (inc)*6 times (12)

Row 3 (sc, inc)*6 times (18)

Row 4: (2 sc, inc)*6 times (24)

Row 5: (3 sc, inc)*6 times (30)

Row 6: sc around (30)

Row 7: (4 sc, inc)*6 times (36)

Row 8: sc around (36)

Row 9: (5 sc, inc)*6 times (42)

Row 10; sc around (42)

Row 11: (6 sc, inc)*6 times (48)

Row 12: sc around (48)

Fasten off.

Attach safety eyes between rows 9 and 10 with 7 stitched in between.

Crown:

With yellow

Row 1: attach yarn then sc around the top of the head between rows 1 and 2 (7)

Row 2: (sc, ch 1, slp st on the same sc, sc in next st)* 4 times

Fasten off, weave in ends.

Base:

Row 2: (inc)*6 times (12)

Row 3: (sc, inc)*6 times (18)

Row 4: (2 sc, inc)*6 times (24)

Do no fasten off.

Attach base to dome by sc all around, stuff firmly while attaching the base. (48)

Fasten off.

Mouth

Cut the mouth shape out of pink or red felt and glue on with craft glue.
