Crochet Axolotl

Have your children recently become obsessed with axolotls? Because mine have. My daughter is completely axolotl obsessed! Her favorite shirt is this t-shirt that says “I axolotl questions” she wears it all the time so she can point it out and tell people facts about them. She even makes little reports and drawings about axolotls in her spare time. It’s so adorable

I’ve included a picture of a real axolotl for reference to the little crochet guys just in case you thought I was just making an adorable alien named Axolotl or something.

Axolotl Toys Also Critically Endangered

My daughter kept asking me for axolotl toys but, as you might expect, axolotl toys are few and far between. So, I thought why not crochet one? I found the most adorable pattern by KatieKittyCraft that I purchased for $3.75 on Etsy. My daughter was so happy with the way hers turned out, she suggested I make it some friends for her brothers. Since then, I have made one more (the teal one, with the classic smile, pictured above).

Last but not least I’m crocheting one for my youngest son. This one will be just a bit smaller because I’m going to use a smaller hook size. I used a G hook on the first two, but I can see just a little stuffing behind the stitches so to fix that I’ll use a smaller hook size for smaller tighter stitches. I’ll include a picture once it’s complete.
